UAE: Ajman bans use of electric scooters on roads, public streets

In a move to ensure the safety of road users in Ajman, the emirate's police authority said that the use of electric scooters of all types is prohibited on public streets. Last month, it issued an advisory asking riders of e-scooters and two-wheelers to follow rules on the road, warning against the use of unauthorised electric bicycles and scooters. The advisory was shared alongside a video that showed some violations committe by users of these vehicles such as: riding without appropriate safety gear, going the wrong way on a one-way road and entering a road from an exit and even using a pedestrian crossing. Across the UAE, authorities repeatedly issue advisories to those who use two-wheelers to discourage violations and make sure they stay safe on the road. A video released by Abu Dhabi Police on reckless e-scooter driving has sparked conversation among UAE residents around safety, enforcement, and the urgent need for stricter regulations.
